Where to Hike

Trails galore! Sylamore trails, Syllamo bike trails, and Mirror Lake trail are all great options. Need more specific advice? Just holler!

Mirror Lake Trail

The trail around Mirror Lake is pretty easy and a good option for kids since it's not hilly. Follow GPS to Blanchard and just past the turnoff to the caverns you'll see a sign directing you to the right to go to Mirror Lake. There's also a short paved walkway to a gorgeous waterfall if you go all the way to the end past the lake and park in the small parking area at the turnaround.

White River Bluff Trail

The White River Bluff Trail is a great loop with big views of the White River. Just off Green Mountain Road near Angler's and JoJo's off Hwy 5, you'll park in the trailhead parking lot and take the "green" loop. There are multiple trailheads from this lot. The GREEN loop you'll use to reach the bluff views is in the corner nearest Green Mtn. Rd. Look for trail markers.

Blanchard Springs

My favorite is the trail from Blanchard Springs to Gunner Pool! Just take the entrance to Blanchard, follow the road all the way til you see the creek, and park in the lot to the left by the large pavilion. The trailhead is behind the bathrooms next to it. Truly this trail goes all the way from Allison to Barkshed, which is the course for the Sylamore 50k. (see Sylamore trail info below)

Steele Falls

Another favorite- a shorter hike to a waterfall- is Steele Falls. Getting to it is tricky, as it's not well marked. See the directions in this link. You'll be looking for a gate with a white sign with a big letter A on a tree. Trust me, it's worth it.
